TEHRAN – An exhibition of Iranian handicrafts and traditional arts was inaugurated in Karaj, Alborz province, on Thursday.

The exhibition, featuring booths displaying handicrafts, souvenirs, and local cuisine tailored for tourists and visitors, is scheduled to occupy a temporary exhibition space until February 15.

The Deputy of Tourism in Alborz province emphasized that, in addition to presenting cultural programs showcasing the diversity of Iranian ethnic groups, the exhibition will present an extensive array of handicrafts. This includes handmade leather products, ceramics, Turkmen rugs and carpets, local scarves from Kermanshah, traditional jewelry, handmade dolls, and a variety of souvenir booths representing regions such as Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Qom, Kerman, etc.

Moreover, the exhibition will highlight handicrafts sourced from various villages across Iran, providing visitors with a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of different rural communities.

With 14 entries, Iran ranks first globally for the number of cities and villages registered by the World Crafts Council, as China with seven entries, Chile with four, and India with three ones come next.
